Uzbekistan-Israel travel is reaching new heights as Air Samarkand introduces a direct flight route from Samarkand to Tel Aviv, set to begin on May 4, 2025. The weekly service will operate every Sunday using an Airbus A321, offering a seamless 5.5-hour journey that connects Uzbekistan’s cultural hub with Israel’s vibrant coastal city. This strategic move not only strengthens tourism and religious travel between the two nations but also enhances business connectivity, aligning with recent diplomatic efforts and expanding Air Samarkand’s growing international network across Asia and the Middle East.

Air Samarkand Launches Direct Flights to Tel Aviv as Uzbekistan-Israel Travel Ties Soar

Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing airline, Air Samarkand, is adding another international connection to its expanding network with the launch of direct flights to Tel Aviv, Israel, beginning May 4, 2025. Operating from its base at Samarkand International Airport, the airline aims to enhance bilateral tourism and business links between the two nations through this strategic new route.

Nonstop Link from Samarkand to Israel’s Vibrant Coastline

The Tel Aviv service will operate once a week, every Sunday, using the Airbus A321 aircraft. Passengers will enjoy a flight duration of approximately five and a half hours. Departures from Samarkand are scheduled for 06:00 a.m., with the aircraft landing in Tel Aviv at 09:25 local time. Return journeys will depart at 11:20 a.m. from Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, arriving back in Uzbekistan at 18:40 local time.

This new route is poised to become a vital channel for travelers interested in religious pilgrimages, cultural exploration, and commercial engagement. Tel Aviv offers seamless access to some of Israel’s most iconic holy cities, including Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Bethlehem. Meanwhile, Samarkand invites visitors to immerse themselves in the grandeur of the ancient Silk Road and explore its UNESCO-listed architectural heritage.

Strategic Timing for Strengthened Uzbekistan-Israel Relations

The route inauguration aligns with recent diplomatic efforts to deepen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Israel. One notable milestone includes Israel’s backing of Uzbekistan’s candidacy for membership in the World Trade Organization in 2024—a move that underscores growing economic and political trust between the two nations.

Air Samarkand’s Bold Expansion Plans Continue

Air Samarkand’s Tel Aviv launch marks the latest step in its ambitious international expansion strategy. The carrier has announced plans to ramp up frequencies on existing routes and unveil new destinations in 2025 as part of its broader mission to position itself as a dominant player in Central Asia’s aviation sector. The airline is also investing heavily in its fleet modernization and in elevating onboard service standards to meet global expectations.

Rapid Route Network Growth Across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa

Since its first scheduled commercial flight to Istanbul in March 2024, Air Samarkand has swiftly expanded its footprint across several key regions. The airline has already launched services to the UAE cities of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Saudi cities of Jeddah and Medina, as well as to the resort destinations of Phú Quốc and Nha Trang in Vietnam. Other recent additions include Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, offering both leisure and religious travelers greater connectivity from Uzbekistan.

The airline continues to support domestic mobility through a shuttle link between Samarkand and the capital, Tashkent, a crucial route for both business travelers and tourists. Its operational hubs span five major Uzbek cities: Samarkand, Tashkent, Bukhara, Fergana, Namangan, and Termez.

Samarkand’s Rising Status as a Global Travel Hub

Samarkand, long celebrated as the “jewel of Central Asia,” is undergoing a remarkable transformation. With a rich tapestry of historic sites—including the Registan, Shah-i-Zinda, and Bibi-Khanym Mosque—combined with modern infrastructure and upgraded airport facilities, the city is now fully equipped to welcome a new era of international tourism.

Air Samarkand is set to boost Uzbekistan-Israel travel with the launch of direct weekly flights to Tel Aviv starting May 4, 2025. The new route strengthens cultural, religious, and business ties between the two nations.

Air Samarkand’s latest move is more than just a new flight—it’s a symbol of Uzbekistan’s aspirations to connect with the world while showcasing its unique heritage. By linking Samarkand to Tel Aviv, the airline reinforces its role in promoting cultural exchange, religious tourism, and international trade.
